Dressing Up Shorts For Summer

by Amy Welch August 1, 2014

I typically shy away from shorts, simply because I hate my legs. However, in the North Carolina humidity, sometimes they are a necessary closet staple! I picked this pair up from Loft last summer on sale and I am so glad I did because they are so versatile! I love silk shorts because not only are they super comfortable, but I love the movement of them.

These shorts traveled on a dinner date with me, to a summer outdoor concert and to pick flowers with girlfriends. I believe as we get older we need to pick items in our closet that not only make us feel confident, but items that can accompany us on our many adventures in life. These shorts have me reevaluating my hate/love with showing my legs. I know they are in my future much more this summer!

What one item in your closet do you find so be most versatile?

Find Your Boat-Worthy Look This Summer

by Amy Welch April 14, 2014

There is something about stripes that just makes me yearn for summer weather, summer nights and summer clothing. While it’s finally warming up here in NC, it has a long way to go before the crickets start chirping and it’s warm enough for a beach day. Although nautical is typically portrayed with white, red and blue, any type of fun stripe or a pair of white denim always reminds me a little of summertime and anchors.

I love the classic colored look for a nautical inspired outfit, it’s always nice to mix it up a little with different colors like I did with the pink + blue combination. Anything is possible with stripes! Yellow is a color I often mix into the nautical vibe as well- do you ever wonder why we associate certain colors with certain things? Who decides this stuff anyway?
